Running your own freelance business feels great. You have all the creative freedom you want and the flexibility of working for yourself. However, one the biggest challenges you might face is receiving payment for your work on time.

Here are some tips to help you get paid:
- Make it as simple as possible for the client to pay you. For example, when you send an invoice, list your preferred payment options (checks, PayPal, Electronic transfer…etc), or include a link that allows the client to pay with a credit card right away.
- Don’t wait too long to send your client an invoice for the work is completed. You can also send it before that, as an additional reminder. If not, the client might get the impression that you’re in no rush to get paid, and we don’t want that!
- Follow up! Set up a plan with your client early on to ensure payment. Slow clients will need early and frequent reminders, others who might seem hesitant can agree to a 50% upfront payment plan.
The important thing is to talk to your client, find out what works for both of you and agree on a plan before moving forward with the project.
